A Day in Georgetown

A Day in Georgetown

So you’re heading to Georgetown for the day…

There has been so much excitement happening in the Georgetown neighborhood lately. During the height of the pandemic a lot shops & restaurant changed (or sadly closed their doors). While some changes were definitely sad, new opportunities have also popped up. Check out my post below for a quick guide of all the places to hit while in the neighborhood!

First stop - I would grab a Baklava Croissant at Yellow the Cafe. Yellow is an inviting new cafe where you can sit and relax over conversation. It’s a small space, but definitely cozy!

After getting a bite to eat it’s time to grab some caffeine to keep you fueled up for all the walking around! My favorite stop - Compass Coffee where the staff is so nice and the coffee delicious. Side note: their company policy is that they will never ask you for a tip.

You definitely can’t do a day in Georgetown without a little shopping. You’ll see tons of big brand names, but I love finding those smaller local spots. I of course love Ella-Rue Vintage high end consignment, Reddz Trading across the street. I would then hit up Veronica Beard my favorite for the best jeans around. My last stop would be Tuckernuck. They have a big online presence but did you know their flagship store is in DC?!

By now you’re probably hungry! My next stop would be at Maman for Lunch ( this is a new location that just opened). Their honey Lavender latte to die for but you absolutely must have their Nutty chocolate chip (featured on Oprah's favorite things).

After lunch it’s super fun to stroll down to Crumbs & Whiskers to take a peek at the kitten's (need to make a reservation ahead if you want to actually play with them) or you can just take a look in the window.

If you have time for dinner, my recommendation would be to have a drink at L’Annexe then head over to Lutece for bite to eat. (Their burger is to die for but only on there lunch menu now.) If you are up for a little nightlife try Quadrant at Ritz DC in the West End where they have live music/ DJ and dancing on weekend with beautiful interior with fabulous cocktails and lite bites. If you are into bubbly and caviar, try Apero and sit at an outside table.

My last tip! 3 Brand new places coming to Georgetown to keep an eye out for!

  • Dig by Danny Meyer (farm sourced-fast casual restaurant) Opened Sunday 1301 Wisconsin Ave- Kids eat free on Mondays and Family meals - for 4 pp $40.  (diginn.com)

  • Van Leeuwen Ice cream - Opening in May 1238 Wisconsin Ave  (vanleeuwenicecream.com)

  • Villa Yara Restaurant - Lebanese with a twist. Just Opened at 2815 M St.

Happy exploring! If you have any Georgetown favorites I’ve missed, be sure to leave me a comment below!
